Boy…I sure get out of the habit quick! In this episode, I talk about the weekend of September 12-13th. I made a decision on a new phone (Moto E 2nd gen), which was delivered just in time for me to activate it for the trip. We took my father-in-law to Durham for his 80th birthday present; we toured Duke campus, saw the Sports Hall of Fame there as well as Cameron Indoor Stadium, and went to the home football game! We also had several good meals and a generally awesome time. We then came home on Sunday and drove him to a surprise birthday party with dozens of family and friends. It was a big weekend!

So much for my in-podcast assertion that my podcast reflexes are solid…it’s taken me about 24 hours to get this podcast uploaded after recording it! That being said, at least I’ve got one in the can post-DDOP!

Today, I review the last couple of days of Dragon Con, the trip home, and the Tuesday “day of rest” that I rely on after con to keep myself from falling apart. DC was, as always, great but it’s good to be home! (And still podcasting!)

First day of DragonCon, and I’m awake before noon! Pretty impressive. Last night was much fun, and looking forward to seeing folks at the live Technorama tonight. Another quick one, just so I can get this uploaded while I’m still in the room.

Nothing too exciting today…I’m recording this just as I’m wrapping up my workday and setting the “Out of Office” flag for my email. It’s time for DragonCon! I kept it fairly short; just went over my last-minute prep, plans for the evening, and finding out how to set the date/time on my Zoom H1. Bonus!

Tonight, I respond to a couple of DDoP podcasts I listened to today. I riff off of Dave Slusher’s advice for a first-time DragonCon attendee (Dave knocked it out of the park, I just added my own perspective). Then, I answer Mad Marv’s request for non-superhero comics that I’m enjoying.

I spent way too much time today futzing about with possible phone replacements (it’s still broken), and I spend too much time tonight talking about it on the podcast. Ah, well; it’ll be alright. Close to done with DragonCon fiddling and such, so we’re golden! Talk to you all tomorrow!

Aggh!!! Just when one thinks the day will be nice and slow and boring, I replace the battery in my Nexus 5…and break the phone. *sigh* Well, the phone bits, anyway…wifi still works, bluetooth still works, etc. But no phone, no cellular data, no nothing. *double sigh*. Hard to say what happened, and I don’t have time to muck with it before DragonCon. Luckily, I’ve got a work phone that I can press into emergency service for the next week or so, and after the con I’ll figure out what I want to do (rumor is the next gen Nexus phones will be announced sometime in September). But for now, this is *really annoying*….grr.

It’s Friday!! And less than a week from DragonCon…W00t. Today I mainly talk about a TV/video audio identification idea that I’d like to try out on a Raspberry Pi; just stick it behind the TV, and let it keep track of what I’m watching. Seems like a pretty cool little project!
