Joy! I actually came up with a topic for this podcast! It all started with a John Siracusa tweet, with sent me to the Consumerist website, which reminded me about how cool MiniDiscs were…well, 15 years ago. *sigh* Anyway, it was fun.

I’m traveling again, so I tried another car recording. And even though I say I might re-record during the episode…I’m bailing on that, sorry. I’d say it’s marginal at best (it gets a bit better after the beginning), but I’m running out of time to upload, so we’ll go with it. I won’t have to do another travel podcast for awhile, thank goodness. In this episode, I discuss some of the podcasts I listen to (actually, the ones I was listening to on the trip today).

I discuss my past and current con experiences, and what sort of tracks I find interesting at con. (Hint: I’m a gamer, with a slight dash of simple costuming).

I talk about my solutions to the Google Reader Apocalypse; I ultimately chose Tiny Tiny RSS for feed reading, and BeyondPod for Android for listening to my podcasts. Went through a couple of other choices along the way, but I’m pretty happy where I ended up.

It’s a Monday, and it’s time to podcast! Work wasn’t too bad, but I am oncall, so I bitch 😉 about that a bit. I then discuss examining SoundCloud as a possible podcast host, and then drop some hints about the Dragon*Con costume props I’m working on.

Twizzler passed away about a half hour ago. She was our pet rat, the last of four that I’ve had. They are such pure, sweet little souls…so full of personality. They are wonderful pets, except for the fact that they have short lives. Twizzler was about 3-1/4 years old, which is pretty ancient for a rat. Her sister, Tofu, died almost exactly a year ago, so Twizzler’s been on her own since then. We will miss them both very much. I may have pet rats again, but for now, we’ve got a house full of cats and a black Lab, so I think we’re good to go on the animal front for the time being. I treasure my memories of all of them, though. I’m still uploading photos of both of them to Flickr; I’ll be able to post more soon.

A tough discussion today; our pet rat Twizzler is getting close to the end of her life. I talk about pets, pet rats, Twizzler in particular, and the my thoughts on the responsibilities we have as pet owners to make sure she maintains good quality of life through the end of it. A podcast I wish I didn’t have to do, but it’s just about time.
