Tonight, I respond to a couple of DDoP podcasts I listened to today. I riff off of Dave Slusher’s advice for a first-time DragonCon attendee (Dave knocked it out of the park, I just added my own perspective). Then, I answer Mad Marv’s request for non-superhero comics that I’m enjoying.
I spent way too much time today futzing about with possible phone replacements (it’s still broken), and I spend too much time tonight talking about it on the podcast. Ah, well; it’ll be alright. Close to done with DragonCon fiddling and such, so we’re golden! Talk to you all tomorrow!
Aggh!!! Just when one thinks the day will be nice and slow and boring, I replace the battery in my Nexus 5…and break the phone. *sigh* Well, the phone bits, anyway…wifi still works, bluetooth still works, etc. But no phone, no cellular data, no nothing. *double sigh*. Hard to say what happened, and I don’t have time to muck with it before DragonCon. Luckily, I’ve got a work phone that I can press into emergency service for the next week or so, and after the con I’ll figure out what I want to do (rumor is the next gen Nexus phones will be announced sometime in September). But for now, this is *really annoying*….grr.
Today is a bit rambly…I basically talk for 10 minutes about Iron Banner PvP in Destiny. *sigh* I think I could have been more interesting, eh? There’s always tomorrow!
It’s Friday!! And less than a week from DragonCon…W00t. Today I mainly talk about a TV/video audio identification idea that I’d like to try out on a Raspberry Pi; just stick it behind the TV, and let it keep track of what I’m watching. Seems like a pretty cool little project!
Driving again…I had a couple of ideas for the podcast, but I wasn’t sure I wouldn’t repeat myself. When you’re driving, you can’t exactly check on that, so I switched to another topic — I’m really enjoying the DDoP podcasts, so much that I’m going to add most of them to my active podcast listening queue. This month has felt very personal, almost intimate, and I’ve really enjoyed the interactions between the various podcasters. Fun times!!
(Ugh…when setting things up tonight, I realize it appears I closed WordPress last night before saving my post properly. The RSS bits that add the MP3 into my feed properly weren’t there, thought the podcast file was in the right place. This won’t affect folks in the future [since I just fixed it], but DDoP listeners may have missed yesterday’s podcast, and I’m not sure how easy it is to fix that…bummer.)
Today I tell the story of my handyman accomplishment of the weekend. On Sunday, I installed a new garbage disposal under the kitchen sink! Huzzah…just call me the house plumber. (not!)
Hi all! Missed a day yesterday; I was part way through the podcast when folks started showing up for dinner, and I didn’t manage to wrap things up in time…oh well! I discuss our Arctic Scavengers game from Saturday night, and our Doctor Who watching from Sunday. We’re now finished with the first seven series of the new run; we watched Matt Smith regenerate into Peter Capaldi last night. Now we’re ready for Series 8, which is mostly new for both of us!
Just a “summary of my day” sort of podcast. We bought teacher school supplies, sorted some costuming accessories for DragonCon, I realized my phone battery needs immediate replacing, and we got ready to play a game of Arctic Scavengers (not mentioned on the podcast…Charlotte was sorting the cards while I recorded). Excelsior!
